Wealth Secret Revealed

It's fascinating to see how could the majority of people has always been in bottom low when it comes to economic status, the fact that no such sane person has ever planned to become poor. Ironically, getting out of poverty and waging war against it has been the greatest struggle among the people.Yet, the truth is painfully clear that majority are still in poverty.

Here in the Philippines, one of the greatest concerns is on how to alleviate the poverty problem that has been around ever since. This is very evident  as 2016 election is commencing, political aspirants are trying to reach the support of the people by not forgetting to stipulate their promises on how would they address poverty.

Unfortunately, many administrations have had completed their political terms with similar promises of addressing poverty yet, data shows that this problem did not wane but instead, it grows even more: e.g. the disparity between the rich and the poor has been increasing as time went by.

Do governments really can solve this problem? Or they're just the one who squandered the wealth of their nations? Well, that's another story.

However, there is a race of people whom for so long; more than a thousand and 800 years they have wandered and scattered into different nations - oppressed, and persecuted because they do not have a nation to call their own at those times.

Perhaps, they have been hated and their existence were unwanted by many. In fact, millions of their forefathers have been killed by genocide.

Although they've been into these aweful circumstances, financially they have been successful. All over the world, they represent the top wealthiest people - they owned multimillion companies and corporations doing businesses in banking/finance, manufacturing, oil, and so on...

Even for this reason, many hate them and they are the Jewish people.

I came to a point where I ask myself why these Jewish people have been financially successful while we Filipinos are mostly failure financially?

Is their government and their leaders have been doing better  than ours? Hey wait! They didn't have a nation until the past 50 plus years and they have been subjected to different governments, rulers, and kings.

Are they have been favored by their circumstance? Oh! Weren't they have been persecuted and oppressed? Thus, I can assert that we Filipinos are far better and favoured compared to them.

In search of their secret literally, I came across a Jewish Rabi (Teacher) whose work is about "Secrets of Jewish Wealth Revealed."

What he said is, and I'll quote:

“In the end of the day it matters much more how wise you spent your money than how much of it you have gathered. Because the most important tool to measure your financial maturity is based uniquely on the first part of the question and the ability to keep money is more important than the ability to make money" - Rabbi Celso Cukierkorn

As far as I have observed, this principle of Rabbi Celso is the opposite of the thinking of most of us. While Jewish people's attitude towards earning highlighted the importance of "keeping" than "earning", we Filipinos usually says " Makikita lang yang pera" (Money just can be found later) thus, we usually spend the money we do not earn yet.

Spending a "soon to be earned" money will usually turn out to be a bad idea. This has put a lot of families into a state of  financial turmoil where breadwinners suffered ultra low "Net Take Home Pay".  Eventually, position families into getting more debt and lesser freedom.

To continually practicing this in our own finances indiscriminately is tantamount to voluntarily putting ourselves and our families into slavery.

I realized Rabbi Celso's comments really made sense. No matter how excellent a man can make money but don't know how to keep, he can be outplayed and beaten by an average man who knows how to keep. Not of luxury of course but of peace of mind, experiencing life such as having quality time with whom he loves, recreation, richer relationships, blessing others and many more.

Secret like a holy grail? I don't think so. I think it's not a secret at all.

I think we all have been taught at least to be thrift. However temptation to give in into personal preferences and desires creep in that caused  many of us into undisciplined financial practices.

To win therefore the battle against poverty, start a revolution! A revolution to refuse immediate gratification, refuse to succumb temptation and learn how to effectively keep portion of what you earn.

For your freedom!
